3 reasons why Afghanistan can give a tough fight to India in upcoming T20I series

3 reasons why Afghanistan can give a tough fight to India in upcoming T20I series

Throughout the ODI World Cup one team that pleasantly surprised everyone was Afghanistan. The young Afghanistan side are now aiming to do even better in their preferred format as the T20 World Cup is just a few months away and fans will be keeping a close eye on them. They will be playing a T20I series against India this month and in this article, we will take a look at 3 reasons why Afghanistan can give a tough fight to India in the upcoming T20I series.

#1. Prior Experience

The Afghanistan team played tremendously well in the recently concluded ODI World Cup in India and their experience of Indian conditions will come in handy in this series. A lot of Afghanistan players also play in the IPL which has made them familiar with the Indian conditions and they will be using that experience to give a tough time to India.

#2. Quality Spin Attack

Afghanistan have always relied on the spinners to give them breakthroughs and the spinners have never disappointed. They have top-notch spinners in the squad who will be looking to trouble a young Indian batting unit. The trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Noor Ahmad would be a tricky proposition for Indians to handle. These spinners have played in IPL and they have been successful as well which makes them the best bet for Afghanistan if they want to win the series.

#3. Absence of Key Indian players

The Indian team will be missing Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya in this series. Surya sustained an injury on the South Africa tour whereas Hardik Pandya has not recovered from his ankle injury yet. The absence of these players can be detrimental to India’s prospects in the series as Surya has been the best Indian batter in this format and Hardik Pandya provides a balance to the starting lineup which no other player does.
