RCB has been looking for their coveted IPL title ever since the league started in 2008. While they came close to winning the title thrice in 2009, 2011, and 2016 respectively, the Bengaluru-based franchise hasn’t been able to win the title even once. In 2025, their focus would be to win the title. For that to happen, a collective performance is needed from batting and bowling units across different phases of the game.
RCB hasn’t had a complete unit in most of the seasons. Their 2024 team had a gold batting unit, but couldn’t quite step up as a bowling unit. In the IPL auctions 2025, RCB tried to tick most of their boxes and particularly looked for world class bowlers. Their batting has a new look with the addition of fresh faces in the squad. The focus would be on their batting, which has to perform on the flat surfaces of M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Three RCB batters, who could score the most number of runs in the IPL 2025 –
1. Phil Salt

Phil Salt had a brilliant season with KKR in the IPL 2024. The star batter was instrumental in KKR’s third title win. Since then, he has struggled to perform for England in both ODIs and T20Is. The reason behind it might not affect his performance for RCB, where he wouldn’t be under the spotlight.
Salt can smash the bowlers for fun right from the word go. T20 is his best format and batting in the Powerplay overs is his strength. Phil can go over the top of the 30-yard circle. M Chinnaswamy Stadium is a good batting surface and has small boundaries. Hence, Salt shouldn’t face difficulties to score runs.
2. Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar was named the new captain of RCB for the 2025 season. He’s easily the best find of RCB post pandemic. Rajat did well for RCB right from the first season he was picked in 2021. His standout season was 2022 where he played a big role in RCB reaching the playoffs. He’s the Indian with the highest individual score in the IPL playoffs.
An unfortunate injury ruled Patidar out of the IPL 2023. However, Patidar had a good season in 2024. A major concern in his batting would be his numbers against the pacers. But Patidar can make up for it by being highly aggressive in the middle overs phase against the spinners. He doesn’t seem to be worried with the added responsibility.
3. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the face of RCB for a long time. In the last couple of seasons, Kohli has been at his best in the IPL. The star batter has scored a lot of runs for RCB in 2023 and 2024 despite his form not being as good for India in T20Is. Now that he’s retired from the shorter format, his focus on T20 would only be during the IPL.
Having won the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025, Virat wouldn’t be under pressure to win a title. Hence, he can take a free flowing approach to take on the bowlers. Virat can fire against the bowlers in the powerplay overs. While he could struggle in the middle overs, Kohli makes up for it by providing good finishing touches.
