3 players who can replace Travis Head in Australia’s squad for the second Test against West Indies

The Australian team might miss the services of Travis Head who is likely to be ruled out of the second Test because of Covid. The skipper Pat Cummins has given the update that the left-handed middle-order batter is almost out of the Brisbane Test. In this article, we will take a look at 3 players who can be potential replacements for Head in Brisbane.

Cameron Bancroft

Cameron Bancroft

There was a lot of speculation before the team for the first Test was announced that Cameron Bancroft could be called up for the squad but that did not happen. Bancroft has been stellar in the ongoing Sheffield Shield season where he has scored 512 runs in just 9 innings at an impressive average of 56.88. Bancroft has also smashed a couple of centuries and he is one of the prominent candidates to replace Travis Head in the squad for the second Test at Gabba.

Beau Webster

The 30-year-old Tasmanian has taken the Sheffield Shield by storm this season. Beau Webster has been simply phenomenal in first-class cricket this season and his stats suggest the same. Webster has managed to accumulate 498 runs in 9 innings in the ongoing season at a mind-boggling average of 71.14.

He has scored one century along with five half-centuries this season. Similar to other options he is also a middle-order batter and the Australian team management might include him in the squad.

Nathan McSweeney

Nathan McSweeney

Here is another batter who is doing really well in first-class cricket. Nathan McSweeney plays for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield and the right-hander has scored more than 500 runs in the ongoing season in 12 innings at an average of 45.54.

He generally plays in the middle order which makes him an ideal replacement for Travis Head as Head also bats in the middle order. McSweeney can adapt to the role in no time as he is used to playing in that batting position.
