3 players who can replace Axar Patel in ODI World Cup 2023 squad for India if he is ruled out

The 2023 ODI World Cup is all set to begin on 5 October in India. Before that, India are currently busy playing in the Asia Cup 2023 and they will take on Sri Lanka in the final on 17 September in Colombo. But, before that clash, the Men in Blue suffered a setback as Axar Patel got injured during the Bangladesh clash.

Hence, Washington Sundar has already joined the squad. But it will be interesting to see whether Axar can get fit before the start of the upcoming ODI World Cup or not. If he fails to do so, then, India might look for some players to replace him in the squad.

Washington Sundar

This all-rounder has already been included in the squad ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka as a replacement for Axar Patel. Hence, it seems that Washington Sundar is the first player for team management that can replace Axar in the ODI World Cup squad. 

In recent times, injuries have been a concern for Sundar but this could be a huge opportunity for him if he gets some game time. He has played 16 ODIs and claimed 16 wickets along with 233 runs with the bat.  

Yuzvendra Chahal

This leg spinner got snubbed by the selectors for both the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. That left many fans surprised and for Yuzvendra Chahal, it was a major setback. But, now, Chahal can become a perfect player to replace Axar in the squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Currently, he is busy playing for Kent in the County Championship in England. He has played 72 ODIs so far and claimed 121 wickets, including five four-fers and two fifers.                   

Ravi Bishnoi

This 23-year-old spinner can be a surprise pick for Team India in the World Cup squad. However, Ravi Bishnoi has played only one ODI so far and that was against South Africa. In that game, he took only one wicket. His recent form in the IPL was good and hence, Rohit Sharma might look to include him in the squad.
