3 players who can be given rest for Team India ahead of Sri Lanka encounter 

Team India have been in red-hot form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma’s side is currently the only unbeaten side in the mega event. The Men in Blue have won six out of their six matches in the World Cup so far. They defeated defending champions England by 100 runs in their last game. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah led the attack as they shared seven wickets between them defending a low score of 230 runs. 

They will next face the Asia Cup 2023 finalist Sri Lanka in their next game. Both the teams have faced India at the mega event since the 2011 final, when India defeated the Islanders to win the World Cup after 28 years at the Wankhede Stadium. They will again meet each other at the same ground after 12 years. In their last meeting in the final of the Asia Cup the Islanders were destroyed by a fiery spell of Mohammed Siraj and were bowled out for 50 runs. Ahead of the game India might give rest to some players.

3. Mohammed Siraj 

The pacer has been quite out of form in the World Cup so far. Siraj’s new ball spell has been neutralized by the batters in India. He has been the No.1 ODI bowler in the Men’s Ranking but might lose his place after the marquee tournament. He has so far picked six wickets in the World Cup and has been expensive in some matches as well. 

2. Shubman Gill

Gill has been in decent form in the tournament as the batter has got the starts in the mega event but could not convert them into big scores. He so far has scored one half-century in the three matches he played. He might be given some rest and Ishan Kishan can get a chance to play and open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma as well. 

1. Kuldeep Yadav

The wrist spinner has been in great form since his return to the side. He has been picking up wickets in the middle overs and breaking the partnerships as well. Kuldeep has so far picked 10 wickets in the mega event he might be given rest and Ravichandran Ashwin might get a chance which might give an extra batting option at the lower order as well.
