3 players unlucky to miss out on Australia's squad for T20 World Cup 2024

Cricket Australia has announced the final 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA. Notably, the side seeks the title of the upcoming marquee event after winning the ODI World Cup 2023.

However, some of the big names are missing from the list, as a few players missed their selection. Meanwhile, speaking about the same subject, here are the three cricketers who have been missing from the final squad despite having recent good T20I performances.

1. Steve Smith

Australia’s star cricketer Steve Smith places himself at the top spot on the list. Notably, the star cricketer is known as one of the most destructive batters in Australian history; however, he is unable to make himself into the squad.

Notably, the 34-year-old cricketer was unsold in the IPL 2024 after his poor performances in the ODI World Cup 2023. However, the great batter once again failed to be in the Australian squad for the marquee, which was a big shock in the cricketing fraternity.

2. Jake Fraser-McGurk

The young cricketer has yet to make his T20I debut for the side; however, he has been delivering sensational performances for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024.

Notably, the star cricketer seems to be in sublime form, and many of the fans had expected that he would grab his chance to be in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad after his great batting skills in franchise cricket. However, it seems he is also one of the unluckiest players who failed to make it to the squad.

3. Spencer Johnson

Australia’s star cricketer, Spencer Johnson, also failed to make it to the final squad despite performing well for his national side in the previous games. Notably, Australia seems to be in need of one left-arm pacer alongside Starc; however, the selectors have ignored him for the final 15 members of the squad.

The 28-year-old cricketer has performed extremely well in the T20I series against the West Indies in February 2024, where he took two wickets in the second game of the match and showed his extraordinary form.
