3 players to watch out for Gujarat Giants in WPL

Gujarat Giants finished last in the inaugural season of the WPL. The franchise from Gujarat only won a couple out of the 8 matches that they played last season. It was a disappointing campaign last year but with a few tweaks, Gujarat Giants are ready to challenge for the title this season. In this article, we will take a look at 3 players to watch out for Gujarat Giants in WPL 2024.

#1. Ashleigh Gardner

Ashleigh Gardner

The 26-year-old Australian all-rounder was the most valuable player for Gujarat Giants last season. She made immense contributions with both bat and ball. Gardner was the highest run-scorer for Gujarat in the previous season scoring 204 runs. Along with her batting, she also left an impact with her bowling skills. In 8 innings she picked up 10 wickets establishing herself as one of the prime wicket-taking options for the franchise. The team will once again be reliant on Gardner to provide that X-factor.

#2. Beth Mooney

Beth Mooney

The Australian wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney was unlucky last season as she got ruled out because of an injury. Mooney was bought for a huge sum of 2 crore last season but the Aussie could not take part in the league which was a huge blow for the franchise. But this season she will be ready to showcase her skills in the WPL. Her recent form has also been encouraging and her previous experience of batting in Indian conditions will also enable her to make some difference for the team.

#3. Sneh Rana

Sneh Rana

The experienced Indian off-spinner, Sneh Rana, will be a very pivotal player for Gujarat Giants in the upcoming season. She is one of the most experienced bowlers in the squad which also doubles her responsibility. Rana had a decent last season where she took 6 wickets in 7 innings. The 29-year-old would be desperate to improve her performance and make a long-lasting impact. Gujarat’s revival in WPL 2024 will depend a lot on whether Sneh Rana delivers for her team or not.
