3 players that Sunrisers Hyderabad can release ahead of retention day in IPL 2024

It has been three seasons since Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified for the IPL playoffs. Once a threatening side, SRH has been reeling in the bottom half of the table for the last three seasons. This year they would be looking to shake things up and reinvigorate the unit to stake their claim on the title. The retention day is approaching, and the management will have to release some of the players ahead of the retention.

#1. Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid

The English leg-spinner was not impressive for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last season. He did not even get many chances. Rashid only had two outings for the Hyderabad outfit. In this ODI World Cup as well he has not been impactful. The management must look for other alternatives in the spin department. After three disappointing seasons, SRH should be rejigging their unit, especially their spin department which looked toothless in the last season.

#2. Anmolpreet Singh

Anmolpreet Singh

Anmolpreet Singh is a fantastic talent and he was in good nick in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but Sunrisers Hyderabad already have enough options in the top order. It is not wise to create confusion in the team dynamics when you have specialists for certain roles. They should put the potential of players like Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi to optimal use.

#3. Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein

The West Indian all-rounder sat on the bench for a major chunk of the last season as he got to play only one match. SRH already has players with similar traits and they should be aiming to add a quality foreign fast bowler in place of Akeil Hosein, who can lead their inexperienced pace battery. They need someone who can partner with Marco Jansen and create instant impact with the ball. At one point in time, Sunrisers Hyderabad used to have the most formidable bowling unit in the IPL but in the last few seasons, they have lagged behind because of their bowling attack.
