3 players LSG must release

Lucknow Super Giants faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator game of the Indian Premier League 2023. The Indians erected a total of 182 runs and then bowled the Giants out for 101, winning by a humongous margin of 81 runs. It is, therefore, apparent that LSG requires tweaks in the line-up. The next auction could be the place to start. However, before recruiting new players the team management will have to decide on which players to release. Here are the picks for the Top 3 players that LSG must release before next season.

3. Ayush Badoni

Ayush Badoni enjoyed a strong start to his IPL career in the current season, but he has struggled to get going this time around. Badoni has scored just 77 runs in the final six games, while his full tally for the season accounts for 238 runs at an average of 23.80 and a strike rate of 138.37. It is interesting to see how long LSG will be patient with Badoni. But, he’s definitely one to consider while releasing players ahead of next season.

2. Amit Mishra

The 40-year-old leg break bowler is surely among the most successful spinners in IPL with a career wicket tally of 173. However, the truth is that Mishra is in the twilight of his career and he cannot feature in most games. In the 2023 season, he played just seven games scalping seven wickets, and mostly warmed the benches for the rest of the season. It is, therefore, apparent that the franchise will look for better options to replace him in the upcoming editions.

1. Deepak Hooda

LSG’s Deepak Hooda, a fairly regular player for the Indian team, never seemed at ease throughout the entire competition. In the 11 games he played, he never exceeded 17 runs, such was his suffering this season. He has had to be the season’s worst batter with 69 runs from 11 innings, an average of 6.9, and an 89.6 strike rate. It is rather obvious that the team will look to replace him before the start of the upcoming season.
