3 KKR players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025

The IPL defending champions, KKR, will be eager to extend their reign as IPL champions for one more year. During the 2025 IPL auction, the side bent on repurchasing their old players and restoring the similar combination that made them win the title last year.

The side has formed a well-settled and overall balanced squad that aims to win their fourth title in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. However, given below are the three players who might not get the chance to play any matches in the 2025 IPL.

1. Rovman Powell

The West Indies T20 captain, Rovman Powell, is a power hitter who can sometimes showcase his strength with the ball as well. The defending champions have bought him for INR 1.50 crores, but it seems that he is likely to replace Andre Russell. Russell has been one of the standout performers for the franchise over the years, and the side will be using the services of him over Powell in the forthcoming edition. However, Powell can be added as a backup player.

2. Rahmanullah Gurbaz

The Afghan star batter, who is known for his aggressive batting and consistent run-scoring at the top order, might not get the chance to bat. During the IPL 2024 edition, he didn’t get the chance till the playoffs due to the presence of English batter Phil Salt. However, KKR has acquired the services of Quinton de Kock as an opening batter who can open the innings alongside Sunil Narine in the forthcoming edition. However, the opening batter might get the chance in the absence of this South African batter.

3. Moeen Ali

The England all-rounder, who was part of the Chennai Super Kings till the 2024 IPL edition, is now added to the KKR side after the side purchased him for INR 2 crores in the two-day auction. However, Sunil Narine played the role of an all-rounder in the 2024 IPL; Ali might have to sit out in the forthcoming edition. In addition, Ali might not get the chance in the full tournament due to the impact player rule.
