With Sri Lanka also hosting the tournament, they will be eager to end the tournament as a winner once again and also prepare for the ODI World Cup which will be played in India later this year. Figuring out their playing 11

This tournament will serve as one of the major training grounds for the team who can improvise and figure out their rightful playing 11 before the major ODI World Cup 2023. The Sri Lankan team have not yet announced their squad for the tournament but the players playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will certainly help them in improvising their probable players.

The likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, and Pathum Nissanka will be crucial when it comes to their batting while their bowling would be heavily relying on Sri Lankan spinners.

#2. Form of their senior player

Form of their senior player

Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, and Kusal Mendis, who are the most experienced players in the lineups, will have to take the responsibility of playing sensibly and making the young batters bat around them.

Similarly, the seniors in the team had to take this as the last opportunity as it might be the ODI World Cup for these players also.

#3. Over-reliance on their spinners

Over reliance on their spinners

It is no hidden fact that the Sri Lankan team lacks quality pacers in their lineup and they are hugely dependent on Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana for taking wickets. The pacers need to also take the responsibility of backing the spinners.

The duo have been in prime form when it comes to taking wickets and also were in their prime when it came to performing the recently concluded World Cup Qualifier.
