3 Indian players unlucky to be left out of Asia Cup 2023 squad

India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup which is set to be kicked off on August 30 has left many fans shocked and happy as well. The tournament will witness the comeback of India’s two veteran batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer who were running out of the team due to injuries.

India’s premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who recently made his comeback after almost a year in the ongoing 3-match T20I series against Ireland, will also be seen in the Asia Cup 2023. However, there were also some players who were selected in the squad. On that note, let’s take a look at the 3 Indian players who were unlucky to be left of the Asia Cup 2023 squad.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal

One of the most talented limited overs spinners Yuzvendra Chahal couldn’t get a place in the squad for the Asia Cup which was the biggest shock for the cricket universe. Chahal recently played in the ODI series against West Indies and it looked like that he would be there in the Asia Cup squad also but that didn’t happen. However, it’d be interesting to see if he will be selected for the ODI World Cup or not.

2. Sanju Samson

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson made a half-century in the recently played ODI series against West Indies. However, that wasn’t enough for him to get a place in the squad as the selectors went with Ishan Kishan and Rahul as their 1st and 2nd choice wicketkeepers. Samson is in the backup but it doesn’t seem that he will get to play a single match.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin

India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s exclusion wasn’t quite shocking but his presence in the squad could have helped India to win the Asia Cup. Ashwin hasn’t played many ODI matches in past years but his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was decent and the selectors could have given a chance to Ashwin to use his experience in the much-awaited tournament.
