3 CSK players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025

Explore 3 CSK players who might spend most of IPL 2025 on the bench. The Chennai Super Kings, who have been known as one of the most successful franchises in the history of the time, are once again gearing up to win the title in the 2025 edition. In the 2024 edition, the side failed to make it to the playoffs after losing to RCB in the last game of the league stage. The five-time IPL champions are eager to script one more dramatic comeback in the forthcoming edition, and their approach at the auction table was a clear indication of this.

The side has picked up some brilliant buys in the two-day mega auction and used their money cleverly to set up an all-purpose team. However, there are still a few players whose side gets benched in the IPL 2025 edition.

Here are the players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025:

1. Jamie Overton

The five-time IPL champions have acquired his services for Rs. 1.5 crores. However, with England all-rounder Sam Curran in the squad and the most probable choice for overseas all-rounder, Jamie Overton might not get the chance. However, Overton might get the chance if any overseas all-rounders get injured, and if not, we can expect him to get benched throughout the whole edition of the cash-rich league.

2. Nathan Ellis

The Aussie bowler was brought to the side for INR 2 crores by Chennai Super Kings in the 2025 IPL mega-auction. He is well known for his abilities in the power plays and the death overs of the game. The five-time champions have a designated bowler for that role whom they have retained for INR 13 crores, Pathirana. However, if the Sri Lankan bowler sustained the injuries, one can expect Ellis to get a feature in the playing XI, or else he would be benched in the whole edition.

3. Rachin Ravindra

CSK has spent INR 4 crores to acquire his services. The Kiwi all-rounder is mostly expected to bat at the top order with a couple of overs. However, the five-time winning side might prefer Deepak Hooda for the same role over this Wellington-born cricketer. In addition, the side also has the services of Noor Ahmed, who they purchased for 10 crores during the auction.
