3 Coaches that RCB could have gone with instead of Andy Flower

One of the most loved franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have appointed former legendary Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower as their new head coach. He has replaced Mike Hesson whose stint will end on August 31. Sanjay Bangar is also set to make an exit.

Flower’s record as a coach has been phenomenal, especially in franchise cricket. He has helped multiple franchises win the title in their respective cricket league. However, it’d be interesting to see how will Flower help RCB to get their hands on the IPL trophy for the first time, till then let’s take a look at the 3 coaches that RCB could have gone with instead of Andy Flower.

1. Ravi Shastri

Former Indian cricket team’s head coach Ravi Shastri helped the Indian team to win multiple historic Test series during his tenure. Indian cricket team achieved many milestones under the duo of Shastri and Virat Kohli. Shastri could have been a great coach for RCB, considering his bond with Kohli on the international platform. RCB has been doing well for the past few seasons. They were able to qualify for the playoffs in 2022 but couldn’t win the title but Shastri’s experience might have helped them.

2. AB de Villiers

Former RCB star batter AB de Villiers retired from IPL after the 2021 season of the league. However, many believed that he might join the coaching staff of RCB but that didn’t happen. He is now reportedly set to become the mentor of the team. However, it would have been much better if the management have appointed him as the head coach, considering his 11-year-old bond with RCB.

3. Tom Moody

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach Tom Moody helped SRH to get their hands on the IPL title in 2016. However, since then, the performance of the team declined and the management decided to replace him with the former legendary West Indies player Brian Lara. However, Moody has a lost of experience as a coach and he could’ve helped RCB to win their maiden title.
