Team India lost the second T20I match to South Africa that was played on Sunday. Despite the fifer by Varun Chakravarthy, the men in blue saw the home team take the win from the jaws of a loss and level the series at 1-1. India will now travel to Centurion for the third game of the series.
On Sunday the visiting side were let down by the batters and by the seam bowling. Captaincy from Suryakumar Yadav was also not up to the mark as he gave Axar Patel just a single over and didn’t press him into attack towards the backend of the innings.
The Indian skipper at the end of the game said “You always have to back whatever total you get. Of course, in a T20 game you don’t want to get 125 or 140 but I’m proud of the way our boys bowled. Getting a fifer defending 125 and in this situation, it’s incredible”
Here are the three changes Team India could look to make for the third T20I
3. Vijaykumar Vyshak in for Avesh Khan
Karnataka seamer Vijaykumar Vyshak has been a stellar bowler in the domestic format and also done well in the IPL. Avesh Khan has been off-colour and his inability to bowl yorkers towards the end of the innings hurt India big time. Vyshak is a bowler who can bowl deceptive Yorkers and can also use the slower balls to good effect. The third game of the series gives India a chance to try the youngster who has tons of potential.
2. Jitesh Sharma in for Abhishek Sharma
One of the biggest problems India are facing is the lack of form that has been shown by Abhishek Sharma. In such a scenario it can be best for the team management to rest him for the third game and draft in Jitesh Sharma who last played a game in 2023. Tilak Varma can be asked to open the batting for India along with Sanju Samson to maintain the left and right hand combination.
1. Yash Dayal in for Arshdeep Singh
It may be a controversial call but Arshdeep Singh has been struggling with his control in the last few games. Yash Dayal has been waiting in the wings for a long time and this is the best chance to try the left-arm seamer. Yash Dayal bowls with nagging consistency and can also be a more than handy bowler towards the end of the innings.
