The Indian cricket team has always been known for the quality of batters which they produce constantly. In recent times, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been two batters who have elated the cricketing fans with their brilliant partnership. It is a treat to watch them both bat for all the fans as they both complement each other superbly in the middle.

There have been multiple instances in which they have guided the Indian team from tough batting conditions. Let us look at the top three performances where the duo of Virat Kohli and  KL Rahul have saved the day for India;

233*- vs Pak in 2023

On September 11, the legendary India batter Virat Kohli along with KL Rahul established a new record for the highest partnership in the Asia Cup’s history. During the Super Four match against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the duo amassed an impressive and determined 233 runs from just 194 deliveries, surpassing the previous record set by Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed in 2012. As the game entered into the reserve day, the former India captain and Rahul started cautiously but once they found their mojo, they went berserk. Virat ended unbeaten on 122 while Rahul remained unbeaten at 111 runs.

165- vs Aus in 2023

A World Cup partnership that will be cherished by the Indian fans as well as fans all across the globe for a long time. In India’s first match of ODI World Cup 2023 against the mighty Australians, the Men in Blue were given a target of 200 runs to chase. But in one of the most horrific start to the chase, the Indian team lost their skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer on the score of just two runs. With 3/2 on the board, KL Rahul walked in and then as usual he combined once again with Virat Kohli and took India across the finish line. Both the batters throughout the innings complemented each other and played low-risk percentage shots.

The wicketkeeper batter returned unbeaten on 97(115), while Kohli scored a sensible 85(116) as the pair stitched a crucial 165(215)-run stand for the fourth wicket.

121- vs Eng in 2021

This partnership was the beginning of what was to come in the future. In the second ODI which was played between England and India at Pune in 2021, the duo combined to put together a partnership of 121 runs. Batting first, the Indian team were 37/2 at one stage in 8.4 overs and then Virat and Rahul took the attack back to the English bowling lineup. They both complemented each other brilliantly in that partnership. Virat scored a gritty 66 while Rahul went on to score a brilliant 108 runs under pressure.
