Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in the final Super 8 match of the 2024 T20 World Cup. After the recent 50-run loss against India, the Bengal Tigers are almost out of the tournament. They will need multiple favours to qualify for the semi-finals. Afghanistan defeating Australia did some favours to Bangladesh, but a lot more things have to go their way.
If India defeats Australia, and Bangladesh defeat Afghanistan in their final Super 8 matches, three teams will end up on three points. In this scenario, a team that has a higher net run rate (NRR) will qualify. Notably, Bangladesh’s current NRR (-2.489) does not give a promising sign.
