3 bad things happened for India on Day 2 of fifth Test

3 bad things happened for India on Day 2 of fifth Test

Team India has locked horns against Australia for the fifth and final Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The visitors need to win this game to not only retain their historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy title but also to keep their hopes of finding a berth in the 2025 World Test Championship Finals, slated to take place in June at iconic Lords in England.

However, the side looks in horrendous form in the fifth Test match and final Test match. The side posts 185 runs while bundling out the Aussies for 181 runs. However, Team India was expected to pose a big threat to the Aussies in the last and final innings of the tour, but once again they failed to showcase their form. In the same vein, here are the three awful things that happened on Day Two of the fifth and final Test match.

1. Jasprit Bumrah’s injury

Team India stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury scare on Day 2 of the ongoing fifth and final Test match in Sydney. The right-arm pacer experienced discomfort and was taken for scans to a local hospital, having just bowled one over post-lunch at the SCG. However, the BCCI videos confirmed that he has returned to the ground, but the team is still waiting for an update from the medical team about the availability of star seamer on Day 3.

2. Rishabh Pant getting out despite getting set in the crucial encounter.

India’s star cricketer once again showcased his stellar form on Day 2 of the fifth Test match. The wicketkeeper batter hammered 61 off 33 balls, featuring six boundaries and four towering sixes, with a solid strike rate of 184 in the game. The left-handed batter should have scored over a hundred runs as the side needed him the most to boost the innings after the rest of the batters failed to set in the game. The 26-year-old cricketer could have stayed a bit longer to pose a big threat to the Aussie bowlers.

3. Top ordered faltered

Team India has suffered another batting collapse in the game. Jaiswal was just able to rack up 22 runs while KL Rahul made 13 runs. The duo stitched the over 100 runs of partnership in the Perth Test and was expected to repeat the same in the last Test match. Apart from them, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli also continued their horrendous form with the bat.
