3 Afghanistan players to watch out for in their clash against India in T20 World Cup 2024

India and Afghanistan will be playing their first Super 8 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 match on June 20 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. The Men in Blue won 3 out of 4 group stage matches while one was washed out due to rain.

On the other hand, Afghanistan also won 3 matches but were brutally beaten by West Indies in the 4th match by 104 runs. India were the table topper in their group while Afghanistan finished 2nd in their group. India will be the favourites to win the contest but they won’t underestimate the Afghans as almost every player of the squad is in form.

So, here are the 3 Afghanistan players to watch out for in the upcoming India vs Afghanistan game:

1. Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Afghanistan’s most destructive batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz will surely be a player to watch out for. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter is currently the highest run-scorer in the ongoing tournament with 167 runs in 4 matches. Gurbaz has played 5 T20I matches against India and scored 105 runs including a half-century. The challenge will be hard for him as the Indian bowlers are wreaking havoc in the tournament.

2. Fazalhaq Farooqi

Afghanistan’s young left-handed pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi is in red-hot form. He is currently leading the most wickets list with 12 scalps in just 4 matches. Despite being wicketless in the recent contest against the Caribbean, Farooqi is still at the top. He is going to be a serious challenge for the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as it is already known how difficult they both find it against a left-armer.

3. Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad

Another young Afghanistan sensation, Noor Ahmad, has been pretty economical so far in the tournament. During Afghanistan’s recent clash against West Indies, Noor was the only bowler who didn’t concede many runs as the leggie finished with brilliant figures of 4-20-0-0. Noor can be a threat to the middle-order batters of the Indian team as he might also get support from the surface. However, only time will tell how much impact he’s gonna put in the contest.
