ZIM vs BAN (2nd ODI) – Highlights

On Sunday, in the 2nd of the three-match ODI series, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh faced each other. After losing the T20 series to Zimbabwe, Bangladesh left the field with a loss in the ODI series as well. As like in the 1st ODI, Bangladesh had set a big target. But Sikandar Raja and Regis Chakabwa of Zimbabwe easily lead Zimbabwe to the verge of victory. With a win in this match and they took away this series too. Sikandar Raja didn’t stop his stormy batting, like in the 1st match, he won the Man of the Match award in this match too.

The Bangladesh team lost the toss in the fifth consecutive match on the tour of Zimbabwe. In the second match of the ODI series, hosts Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh lost the toss and batted first in the first match of the series too.

Like the first match, the Bangladesh cricket team got off to a good start in the second match as well. Liton Das cannot play due to injury. Instead, Captain Tamim Iqbal started the innings with Anamul Haque Bijoy. Bangladesh scored 62 runs in the first power play with the pair of these two.

Although Tamim got off to a good start with his fifty, Tamim did not stay on the wicket for long. In the end, he got out after scoring 50 runs off 45 balls. Where there are 10 fours with one six. After 1 over, Bijoy suffered an unfortunate run-out. The visitors were suddenly put under pressure with the departure of two openers within three overs. 20 runs came from Enamul’s bat from 25 balls.

In the second ODI of the series, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim were dismissed in almost the same way. Both were caught in the mid-wicket region trying to hit their onside sixes. Mushfiqur got out for 25 runs off 31 balls.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto could not score a fifty in the first 11 ODIs of his career. The left-handed top-order batsman created that possibility in the 12th match today. But he went back to the dressing room before fifty. However, he played career-best innings of 38 runs.

Then Afif Hossain Dhrubo and Mahmudullah Riyad tied the pair. They made a great pair of 81 runs. Sikandar Raja broke that pair. Afif departed after scoring 41 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours. Mehidy Hasan Miraj came and could not do anything. He scored 15 runs off 12 balls.

Taskin is out for 1 run. Taijul Islam departed after scoring 6 runs off 4 balls. Shariful got run out in the last ball.

It is doubtful that if Mahmudullah didn’t take that many runs Bangladesh coudnt have made a challenging target of 290 runs. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten with 80 runs off 84 balls with 3 sixes and 3 boundaries.

Sikandar Raja took 3 wickets for Zimbabwe. Madhevere took 2 wickets. Victor and Tanaka Chivanga took 1 wicket each.

The hosts lost 3 wickets for 27 runs while facing the Bangladeshi bowler’s cannon. T Kaitano (0), Innocent Kaia (7 runs off 8 balls), and Wesley Madhevere (2 runs off 16 balls). At the other end, the other opener Tadiwanashe Marumani kept his wicket despite falling three wickets in a row. But after scoring 25 runs from 42 balls, he also returned to the dressing room.

After that, Regis Chakabva started the great innings with Sikandar Raja. But then Captain Regis Chakabva got out. He scored 102 runs off 75 balls and was caught out by Tamim. He also hit 2 sixes with 10 boundaries. Then Tony Munyonga made Sikandar Raja’s job easy by scoring 30 runs off 16 balls. They left the field with a great victory. At the end Sikandar Raja scored 117 runs off 127 balls hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Mehidy Hasan Miraj and Hasan Mahmud took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh. Taijul Islam also took one wicket.
