The West Indies Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October. Hard-hitter all-rounder Andre Russell and star spinner Sunil Narine did not get a place. However, despite not playing in the last World Cup, left-handed opener Evin Lewis got a chance this time.
Meanwhile, Johnson Charles returned to the team after a long time with the World Cup. This top-order batsman last played for the country in 2016. He recently got the opportunity due to his performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Charles has scored 227 runs at an average of 46.40 from 6 matches in the ongoing CPL so far.
The Caribbean’s World Cup team has two young cricketers waiting for their debut as a surprise. Batting all-rounder Raymon Reifer and legspin all-rounder Yannick Kariyah got chance in the T20 team for the first time. On the other hand, Dominic Drakes has been ruled out due to a knee injury. Fabian Allen also did not get chance.
