Wasim Akram’s advice for young cricketers

তরুণ ক্রিকেটারদের জন্য ওয়াসিম আকরামের পরামর্শ

There are many differences between the cricket of the past and the cricket of today. T20 cricket has now been added to Test and ODI cricket. Since the beginning of T20 in cricket, the climate of the cricket world has also changed. Today’s cricketers are more attracted towards franchise leagues of the T20 format. Many cricket analysts think that young cricketers are no longer interested in domestic cricket as they are chasing money. However, legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram’s advice for young cricketers is to focus more on first-class cricket.

According to Akram, young cricketers are not experienced enough in cricket to lean towards the franchise leagues. They are not able to show the expected performance in the original format of cricket while focusing on this short format of cricket. Despite survival in T20 cricket, youngsters are giving poor performances in Tests. Akram thinks that to be experienced in cricket, one needs to play first-class cricket. Wasim Akram gave this advice to Pakistan’s young cricketers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.

This former Pakistani cricketer thinks that if the cricketers get more money after bowling only a few overs, then naturally they will show interest in playing in that. In this context, Akram said, “Cricket has changed a lot now. Cricket has become more commercial than a game. If you get more money by bowling only four overs in a T20 match, then you lose interest in playing Test matches for five consecutive days. It is normal. I think So our young star pacers Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Wasim Jr. should focus on cricket instead of chasing money. They should play first-class cricket more; it will enrich their careers.”

This legend of Pakistan asked to pay attention to domestic cricket as well. He also said that he would have arranged to play four-day matches if he had time. Addressing the youth, the former Pakistan captain also said, “Apart from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), young cricketers should focus on the domestic league so that they can give their maximum to the national team. They should play two to three more leagues for their career. If we had time, we might have played four days match. Because playing well here also increases the confidence to play well in the national team jersey.”

It should be noted that the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will start on February 13. 6 teams will play a total of 34 matches in the tournament. The matches will be held at four venues in Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi. The curtain will come down with the final on March 19.
