UAE vs BAN (2nd T20I) – Highlights

Visiting Bangladesh has secured the title of the two-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates by 2-0. After beating hosts UAE by 7 runs in the first match, the Tigers won the second match by 32 runs on Tuesday (September 27). Mehidy Hasan Miraz was selected as the player of the match for his excellent performance.

In response to Bangladesh’s 169 for 5 wickets, United Arab Emirates managed to score 137 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Mosaddek Hossain took the maximum number of 2 wickets for Bangladesh. Besides, Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, and Ebadot Hossain got one wicket each.

Chasing the challenging target of 170 runs, the hosts lost 4 wickets for 29 runs and fell into danger. Chirag Suri was dismissed by Nasum, Muhammad Waseem by Taskin, and Aryan Lakra and Vriitya Aravind were dismissed by Mosaddek. Among them, Waseem scored the highest 18 runs. All three others returned to the pavilion scoring single digits.

Then Chundangapoyil Rizwan and Basil Hameed put up great resistance. They put on a 90-run stand for the fifth wicket. That pair broke by the pacer Ebadot Hossain. Ebadot sent Hamid back to the dressing room for 42 runs. Zawar Farid scored 8 runs. In the end, captain Rizwan remained unbeaten with 51 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh collected a fighting capital of 169 runs by losing 5 wickets. After losing the toss and batting first, Mehidy and Sabbir Rahman brought up 27 runs in the opening pair for Bangladesh. For the third time in a row, Sabbir failed to score well after getting an opportunity to open for the team. He scored 12 runs off 9 balls with a four and a six and was got out with an lbw off Aryan Lakra.

Liton Das and Mehidy put on a partnership of 41 runs for the second wicket. Liton, who was batting well, left the stumps to hit Aayan Khan and returned to the dugout with a catch in the hands of the fielder at point. He scored 25 runs off 20 balls with the help of 4 boundaries.

Afif Hossain, the best player of the previous match, could not accompany Mehidy who was keeping one end safe. Afif got out hitting 2 fours and a six, he made 18 runs off 10 balls. Mosaddek and Mehidy were leading Bangladesh to a big collection in the fourth wicket pair. But due to bad luck, Mehidy had to return staying 4 runs away from fifty.

Sabir Ali’s fifth ball in the 15th over of the innings was outside off the line but the umpire responded positively to the LBW appeal. Mehidy scored 46 runs off 37 balls with 5 fours. This is his career-best innings in T20I.

Earlier, Mehidy scored 38 runs against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022. As a result, this stands as the highest score for him in this edition. Mosaddek could not match himself in the role of finisher. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 27 runs off 22 balls in the 17th over. His inning was played with a six with 2 fours.

When Mosaddek got out, Bangladesh scored 137 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Captain Nurul Hasan and Yasir Ali could not give the team more than 32 runs in the last three overs. Nurul was unbeaten on 19 off 10 balls and Yasir on 21 off 13 balls. Both hit a four and six equally.
