Twitter Reactions: West Indies keep Bangladesh on backfoot despite Mominul, Jaker fifties

After Mominul Haque and Shahadat Hossain steered Bangladesh to safety at the end of second day, it was to be seen how they would carry on with Bangladesh starting off Day 3 trailing by 410 runs. The first five overs yielded only five runs, as the two batters were seeming to get their eye in. Having survived nearly an hour in the morning session, Shahadat was the third batter to be dismissed after edging a delivery low to first slip.

A rather sluggish session of Test cricket concluded with Haque and Litton Das remaining unbeaten at Lunch. Haque departed the very next delivery after registering his half-century as Jayden Seales caught him in front in an instant reward for the pacer after coming for a fresh spell. Despite the track having become unresponsive for the bowlers, Bangladesh were rather conservative while batting in the middle.

The persistent strain put by the West Indies played off as Litton chopped on to his stumps, leaving Shamar Joseph in pure euphoria. Mehidy Hasan Miraz popped one to short-leg to leave Bangladesh in a dire state. Taijul Islam proved to be a perfect foil for Jaker Ali, but he was cleaned up by Alzarri Joseph for 25. Ali was looking steadfast at the crease, but had to walk back after a blinder of a grab by Seales.

All in all, the West Indies were well-organised with their bowling plans and reaped the benefits for their hardwork. They would want to wrap things up as soon as possible, so as to set a substantial target for Bangladesh and have enough of a chance to produce a result. Day 3 was yet again cut short early due to bad light.

West Indies set a strong foundation with their big total, but Bangladesh has the talent to fight back. It’ll be an exciting Day 3, with the visitors needing to rebuild and counter the pressure. Let’s see if they can turn the tide! 🙌 #WTC25 #WIvBAN pic.twitter.com/DW6J4Ki6Ak

The West Indies are in a strong position after Day 2, having posted a massive total of 450 runs and then sending the Bangladesh openers back to the pavilion. Bangladesh trails by 410 runs, and their batsmen will need to put up a solid fight to turn the tide on Day 3.

West Indies on fire! Can Bangladesh bounce back on Day.

West Indies’ strong bowling performance could give them the edge, but Bangladesh still has a chance to bounce back. Day 3 will be crucial!
