The West Indies and England continued their three-game ODI series by facing off in the third ODI of the series. Both sides locked horns at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Wednesday, November 6. The clash began with England coming in to bat first after losing the toss.
The side opened their innings with Phil Salt and Will Jacks scoring 74 and five runs, respectively. Furthermore, Jordan Cox added one run on the board, whereas Jacob Bethell was sent packing for a duck. After the top order looked to be crumbling, skipper Liam Livingstone failed to go big as well after he departed for just six runs.
With the situation worsening for England, Sam Curran and Dan Mousley stabilised their innings with scores of 40 and 57, respectively. Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer scored 32 and 38* England managed to post a total of 263 runs and lost eight wickets in the process.
Brandon King’s century lead to series win
As for the West Indies, Matthew Forde was the highest wicket-taker in the first innings with three wickets to his name. Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd took two wickets each, with Roston Chase striking once as well.
Coming out to chase the target, the West Indies put in an excellent performance with the bat. Opener Brandon King completed his century, scoring 102 runs in 117 deliveries. Evin Lewis added 19 runs on the board, with Keacy Carty completing his century as well.
Carty scored 128 runs in 114 deliveries as the West Indies chased the target in 43 overs and won the game by eight wickets. As for England, Reece Topley and Jamie Overton were the only wicket-takers for the side, with one wicket each to their name.
Winning just the second ODI of the series, England succumbed to a hefty ODI series loss and will now hope to turn it around in the T20I matches.
Here’s how X reacted to third ODI between the West Indies and England:
Brandon King needed a big score, and he has played wonderfully well for his 3rd ODI century. But for Keacy Carty and the people of St Maarten this is a significant achievement & boost.

The disappointing run of England continues. A comprehensive 8 wicket win for the Windies thanks to brilliant tons from Brendon King and Keacy Carty hands Engl a 1-2 series loss. Not a moral booster for the 2019 World Champs ahead of one more ICC trophy in subcontinent #WIvENG

Keacy Carty looks v balanced and has good back foot shots.
Really like this Windies ODI side. Good balance, plenty of all-rounders, deep batting line-up, real quick pacers, a class spinner, good mix of hitters and anchors, plenty of LHB-RHB. #WIvENG
