The co-hosts of the ongoing T20 World Cup, the West Indies, and the USA, locked horns in the Super Eight stage of the tournament. Both sides faced off in the 46th game at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 22. The clash began with the USA coming in to bat first after losing the toss.
The side got off to a subpar start as openers Steven Taylor and Andries Gous scored two and 29 runs, respectively. Nitish Kumar added 20 runs on the board, with the in-form Aaron Jones departing after scoring just 11 runs. Furthermore, things went from bad to worse for the USA as Corey Anderson was sent packing for just seven runs.
In the lower middle order, Milind Kumar and Shadley van Schalkwyk scored 18 and 19 runs, respectively, helping the USA post a total of 128 runs on the board in the first innings.
As for the West Indies, Andre Russell and Roston Chase were the highest wicket takers for their side, with three wickets each to their names. Alzarri Joseph took two wickets, with Gudakesh Motie striking once.
Shai Hope’s masterclass propels WI to a dominant win
Aiming to chase down a target of 129 runs, the West Indies found themselves one wicket down quite early as opener Johnson Charles fell prey to Harmeet Singh on a score of 15 runs.
However, it was the exceptional batting performances of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran. Opening the innings, Hope played a masterclass of a knock, scoring 82* runs in just 39 deliveries, where he hit eight sixes and four fours. Furthermore, Nicholas Pooran stayed unbeaten on a score of 27 runs in 12 deliveries as the West Indies chased down the target in just 10.5 overs and won the game by nine wickets.

Interesting fact is that in the last WC we won, there were a few injuries, the most notable were Kieron Pollard and Andre Fletcher
Their two replacements Lendl Simmons and Carlos Braithwaite were instrumental in high pressure scenarios
