The three-match T20I series between Pakistan women and South Africa women kicked off at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, September 16. The clash began with South Africa women coming in to bat first after losing the toss.

The side opened the innings with Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits scoring 11 and 56* runs, respectively. Anneke Bosch departed for a golden duck, with Marizanne Kapp adding 14 runs on the scoreboard.

Furthermore, after a shaky start, Pakistan women did a good job in limiting the visitors as much as possible. Sune Luus went on to score 27 runs in just as many deliveries, alongside Chloe Tryon, who went unbeaten on a score of 15 runs. By the end of the first innings, South Africa women managed to post a total of 132 runs in the first innings, having lost four wickets in the process.

As for Pakistan women, Sadia Iqbal was the highest wicket-taker for her side, with three wickets to her name. Nida Dar was the only other wicket-taker with one wicket to her name.

Aiming to chase down a target of 133 runs in the second innings, Pakistan women got off to a subpar start to the run chase. After opener Gull Feroza departed for a duck, Muneeba Ali added six runs on the scoreboard. Furthermore, things went from bad to worse after Sidra Amin was dismissed for just four runs.

After the top order’s collapse, Nida Dar and Sadaf Shamas were unable to make an impact as well, as they scored 16 and two runs, respectively. Alongside, Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana went unbeaten for scores of 52 and 37 runs. However, their knocks came a little too late, as South Africa women limited the hosts to a score of 122 runs in 20 overs as the visitors won the first T20I by 10 runs.

Marizanne Kapp and Tumi Sekhukhune were the highest wicket takers for South Africa women, with two wickets each to their name. Seshnie Naidu took one wicket as well.

Tazmin Brits showing her class with a solid fifty! 🇿🇦🔥

Tough conditions, but she held it together. Now it’s up to the bowlers to finish strong and defend it! Let’s go, Proteas!

Tazmin Brits played a solid innings, scoring a fifty for South Africa, but Pakistan’s bowlers did well to keep the run rate under control in Multan

At what point will SA ask for proactive batting from Tazmin Brits. Their batting line up isn’t so brittle to keep playing this way

A good start to the series for South Africa. They win the first T20I by 10 runs. Tazmin Brits’ fifty and Chloe Tryon’s cameo was crucial for SA with the bat. Except the final two overs, the bowlers did well to restrict Pak. SA could’ve given another over to Annerie Dercksen. #SA
