Australia took on Scotland in the second T20I at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh on September 6. Scotland won the toss and opted to bowl first. The hosts managed to strike early as they sent last game’s maverick, Travis Head for a golden duck, courtesy of Bradley Currie. Jake Fraser-McGurk followed suit scoring just 16 runs. Australia were two wickets down with 23 runs on the board in the fourth over.

After that, it was all Josh Inglis’ show and the batter smashed the Scots all around the park. He scored 16 runs off the final over of the powerplay bowled by Brad Wheal. The batter reached his fifty in just 20 balls. Since the half-century, there was no stopping the right-handed batter. With the help of seven boundaries and as many maximums he scored a 43-ball century, the fastest by an Australian in T20Is. Inglis eventually ended his innings on 103 off 49 balls.

Cameron Green pitched in with 36 off 29 deliveries while Marcus Stoinis and Tim David scored 20* and 17* respectively. The visitors posted a formidable target of 197 runs in front of Scotland.

Chasing the target, Scotland lost Michael Jones after a good start. George Munsey too ceded his stay, scoring 19 runs and all other Scottish batters crumbled like a pack of cards. The only substantial knock came from Brandon McMullen, who stayed till the 13th over and scored a gritty 59 off 42 balls. From the number four batters to the last nail in the coffin, none of the blade wielders went past 10 runs.

Australia restricted Scotland to just 126 runs in 16.4 overs. Stoinis breathed fire with four wickets while Green scalped two. Other Aussie bolwers were also among wickets, contributing one each. They won the game by a hefty margin of 70 runs and bagged the series by 2-0 with the third T20I turning out to be a dead rubber now before the England assignment.
