Twitter Reactions: Delhi Capitals secure steal deal for KL Rahul as cricket fraternity hails the masterstroke

Star India batter KL Rahul was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated players to come under the hammer at the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) mega auction. The star batter was released by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the mega auction after leading them for three years. 

Coming with a base price of INR 2 crore, KL Rahul had the likes of KKR, RCB, and DC bidding for him. However, he was ultimately secured by DC in what is being stated as a steal deal. Delhi Capitals secured Rahul’s services for a whopping INR 14 crore in the mega auction.

It is worth noting that KL Rahul has played 132 IPL matches so far where he has managed to score 4,683 runs to his name and maintains an average of 45.47 runs. Rahul could also be a captaincy option for Delhi ahead of the IPL 2025 as well. The star batter led Lucknow Super Giants to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 but failed to do so in 2024.

Delhi Capitals still looking for their first IPL title

Speaking of Delhi Capitals, the side has managed to rope in Mitchell Starc and KL Rahul so far in the IPL mega auction. With a superstar batter and pacer in their arsenal, the side will hope that the IPL 2025 will be a different affair for them compared to the previous seasons.

Notably, Delhi had failed to reach the knockout stages of the IPL in 2024. With seven wins and seven losses in 14 matches, Delhi Capitals finished the tournament in sixth place in the standings and missed out on the top four. However, with KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc on their side, the side will hope they will be able to get their hands on their very first IPL title in 2025.
