Afghanistan and Bangladesh continued their three-game ODI series by facing off in the third and final ODI. Both sides locked horns at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, November 11. With both sides having won one ODI each, the series stood at level terms, and the clash began with Bangladesh coming in to bat first.
Bangladesh opened the innings with Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar scoring 19 and 24 runs, respectively. Zakir Hasan added four runs on the board, with captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz scoring 66 runs in 119 deliveries. After Miraz’s knock, Towhid Hridoy failed to go big as well after he departed for just seven runs.
However, the knock of Mahmudullah stabilised the innings for Bangladesh, as the veteran scored 98 runs in just as many deliveries as Bangladesh posted a total of 244 runs in the first innings of the game.
As for Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai was the highest wicket-taker in the first innings with four wickets to his name. Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan took one wicket each as well.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz spoils Bangladesh’s plans
Aiming to chase down a target of 245 runs, Afghanistan got off to an exceptional start to the game as opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz completed a brilliant century. After Sediqullah Atal’s dismissal on a score of 14 runs, Gurbaz scored 101 runs in 120 deliveries. Furthermore, Rahmat Shah scored eight runs, with Hashmatullah Shahidi adding six runs on the board.
As Afghanistan looked to be in trouble, the knock of Azmatullah Omarzai pulled them out of trouble. Omarzai scored 70* runs in 77 deliveries as Afghanistan chased down the target in 48.2 overs and won the game by five wickets, clinching the series in the process as well.
As for Bangladesh, Nahid Rana and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking one wicket as well.
