Sourav Ganguly will not be seen as the president of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) for the second time. Can West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee be silent about the removal of the Maharaja of Bengal? Now the Chief Minister himself opened up about Sourav. Mamata’s allegation that Sourav was forcibly removed from the post of BCCI president, refers to Jai Shah, who is still in office.
Mamata said, ”On behalf of all cricket lovers, I want to say that Sourav is our pride. He also played in the field with considerable skill, and also ran the administration. He was the president of BCCI. The Supreme Court order was for Sourav and Joy. Now Sourav isn’t there, but there is Joy? So why has Sourav been left out?”
There are rumors that Sourav was not made president of the board for the second term because he did not join BJP politics. According to Indian media reports, BJP wanted Sourav to impress the politics of India’s West Bengal. But Sourav had to pay for not joining BJP politics. There has been an uproar in Indian cricket over this issue.
But Mamata wants Sourav in ICC. He even agreed to lobby Prime Minister Narendra Modi for it. Mamata said, ”Saurav was an ICC representative before. Request to PM, please let Sourav contest the ICC election. He is our pride. All cricket countries know him. Please don’t bring politics into cricket. Take a decision in the interest of cricket.”
Meanwhile, to know whether Sourav will go to ICC or not, will have to wait till the annual board meeting. However, Sourav said that he will contest the CAB elections. For this, he will submit the nomination on October 22 by making a panel within 20 days. Sourav will fight in this election mainly to answer the criticism.
