For James Anderson in the sunset of his career, every match has become a record breaker. The 40-year-old English pacer broke the record of Australia’s legendary pacer Glenn McGrath. Anderson set the world record for most international wickets by bagging 6 wickets in the Manchester Test against South Africa.
So far, this record was held by former Australian pacer McGrath who took a total of 949 wickets in international cricket. Anderson surpassed McGrath by dismissing Proteas batsman Simon Harmer in the Manchester Test. At the end of that match, his wicket number is currently 951.
So far, Anderson has taken 664 wickets in Tests, 269 in ODIs and 18 in T20Is. The English pacer moved up to number four in the list of bowlers with the most international wicket takers on the day, surpassing McGrath. There are only three spinners above him.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for most wickets in international cricket. Who has a total of 1347 wickets. Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne is second with 1001 wickets. In addition, former Indian spinner Anil Kumble, who is ranked third, has 956 wickets.
Although he is 40 years old, this English pacer said in an interview a few days ago that he is not thinking about retirement now. Proving age is just a number, he is regularly spreading light in 22 yards of the field. And if he takes 5 wickets, he will touch Kumble too. Who can stop this English pacer?
