In other words, IPL will be seen on different channels of Star Sports in the next five years as before. Although the board has not officially announced the name of the winner of the television rights of IPL. Meanwhile, Viacom 18 has got the digital rights of IPL for 2023-2027.

According to PTI, citing a source on the board, Disney Star has bought television rights for Rs 23,575 crore. Viacom has bought the digital rights of the IPL for Rs 20,500 crore. The total broadcasting rights of the IPL have been sold for Rs 44,074 crore. The price per match on television stands at Rs 57.5 crore. The value per IPL game stream digitally is Tk 48 crore. In all, the price per match of IPL is going to be 105 crore rupees.

This is the second-highest price in any sport. At the top of the chart is a well-known American league. It is the American rugby league – NFL. In their case, this number is 274 crore rupees. The IPL has surpassed another high-profile league. The English Premier League (EPL) apparently is not worth as much as the IPL. The price per match of EPL is 89 crore rupees. In the case of Major League Baseball (MBL), the figure is Rs 89 crore. In the NBA, that is, the American basketball league, the price per match is 16 crore rupees.

An official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said: ”Most importantly, digital rights have been sold for around Rs 50 crore per match. It’s unthinkable. The price has risen 51 percent more than the base price. It’s huge. ”

The IPL broadcasting rights have been sold three times so far. Sony bought the broadcasting rights for Rs 8,200 crore from 2008-2017. Then, for the 2018-2022 season, Disney Star got the opportunity to show the IPL for Rs 16,348 crore. Once again, the company has bought the broadcasting rights of the IPL for a record price (Rs 43,050 crore). They will broadcast from 2023-2027.
