The Lankan Premier League is to be held in December

The T20 World Cup bell has rung. The 8th edition of the T20 World Cup started with a match between Sri Lanka and Namibia. In the meantime, it is known that the Lankan Premier League will be organized after the World Cup.

Sri Lanka’s franchise T20 tournament, the Lankan Premier League (LPL), was scheduled to be held on August 1 this year. But due to the country’s political and economic instability, it was no longer possible. The LPL was suspended a couple of weeks before the start of the tournament.

However, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has announced a new tournament schedule. According to that schedule, the third season of LPL will start on December 6 this year. The curtain will come down on December 23 with the final match. A statement from the SLC informed us about these issues of the tournament.

A total of five teams will participate in this season of LPL. Where Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy, Galle, and Dambulla will fight. All the matches of the tournament will be held at three venues in Sri Lanka. SLC has announced Colombo, Pallekele, and Hambantota as the venues. The tournament will be held in a round-robin format.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won the T20 format Asia Cup a few days ago. The team is currently playing in the World Cup in Australia. The Lankan League will start at the end of the T20 World Cup mission in the country. So after returning from the World Cup, Dasun Shanakara will fight again in T20 at home.
