Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is undergoing a major reshuffle. A few days ago, Ramiz Raja was dismissed from the post of president. This time, PCB chief selector Mohammad Wasim fell on the list of dismissals. He was removed soon after the new president, Najam Shetty, took over. At the same time, the entire committee of Wasim has been declared invalid.
In 2020, Wasim became the chief selector of PCB. Since then he has been working with other members of the committee. He was supposed to serve till the 2023 ODI World Cup. But he had to leave the post before that. As a result, the new selection committee of PCB will select the team to play in the World Cup in India. However, that committee has not been given yet.
Not only the president or the selection committee, but Nazam is also changing everything one by one after taking charge. In this regard, Najam told ESPNcricinfo, a media related to cricket, “We are cancelling all the previous committees. According to the 2019 constitution, everything is being cancelled. We will create everything according to the constitution.”
Meanwhile, after dismissing Ramiz on December 22, Najam took over as interim president for four months. The reshuffle started mainly after the Test series whitewash against England. Because, at that time, criticism of the board started throughout the country. But before that, there were rumours of Ramiz losing his post. Because, Imran Khan, who put him in power, is not in the position of Prime Minister.
However, Najam has experience serving as PCB president before this. Besides, he served in various positions at PCB from 2013 to 2018. A 14-member committee has been appointed along with the Nazam for the new term. It is now a matter to see how much cricket will progress under the hands of that committee.
