Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades met in the 18th match of BBL 2022/23 yesterday (Wednesday). In that match, Sydney Sixers set a medium target in the scheduled 20 overs to bat first. But in the 2nd innings, Melbourne Renegades folded before the scheduled 20 overs were completed. Also, Sydney Sixers are in the 4th place in the points table after winning this match and Melbourne Renegades are in the 3rd place after losing the match. Besides, Ben Dwarshuis won the man-of-the-match title for Sydney Sixers due to his excellent bowling.

Melbourne Renegades won the toss and elected to bowl first and invited the Sydney Sixers to bat. Batting first, the Sydney Sixers’ openers made a good start. But their first wicket fell at 32 runs. Their opener Curtis Patterson was caught out and left the field. He scored 17 runs in 16 balls with the help of 3 fours. Then James Vince entered the field with another opener, Josh Phillip. Together they took the team’s total to 91 runs. But unfortunately, Josh Phillip was caught out and left the field. He scored the most runs for the Sydney Sixers. The wicketkeeper scored 55 off 40 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes before getting out. Then began their wicket-tumbling procession. Wickets were falling at regular intervals. Captain Moises Henriques entered the field after Josh Phillips was out. But he left the field after scoring 1 run in 1 ball. James Vince got bowled out after 2 overs and scored 26 runs from 23 balls with the help of 1 four. Daniel Christian who scored 7 runs off 8 balls left the field on the 4th ball of the 17th over. Jordan Silk scored 19 runs off 17 balls with the help of 2 fours. Hayden Kerr scored 1 run off 2 balls. Sean Abbott left the field after scoring 1 run. Apart from this, Jackson Bird was unbeaten for 13 runs from 6 balls with the help of 2 fours and Ben Dwarshuis was unbeaten for 6 runs from 5 balls. In the end, they scored 149 runs after losing 8 wickets with 3 extra runs.

Mujeeb ur Rahman took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs for Melbourne Renegades. Besides, Kane Richardson and Will Sutherland took 2 wickets each.

Melbourne Renegades lost 10 wickets with 1 overs left to bat for a target of 149 runs. Aaron Finch scored the most runs for them. He scored 36 runs off 35 balls with the help of 5 fours. Shaun Marsh scored 28 runs off 25 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six. Will Sutherland scored 13 runs off 8 balls, with 1 six and 1 four. Tom Rogers scored 14 runs off 8 balls. Besides, no one else could cross the 10-run barrier. Martin Guptill hit a golden duck, Nick Maddinson scored 1 run, Jonathan Wells 1, Peter Handscomb 3, Akeal Hossain 3, Mujeeb ur Rahman 0, and Kane Richardson scored 8 runs. In the end, their innings stopped at 115 runs with 8 extra runs.
