Sri Lanka-West Indies to compete in whites; both eying on World Test Championship

In international cricket, the West Indies cricket team is now touring Sri Lanka for a 2-match Test series. The tour is set to begin with the first Test on November 21 at the Galle International Stadium. The second and final Test match of the series will be played at the same venue from November 29 to December 3.

Since 1993, Sri Lanka and the West Indies have met in a total of 22 Test matches, where Sri Lanka has won 9 matches and West Indies has won 4 matches and 9 matches were drawn. The last time the two teams met was in a Test series in West Indies in March 2021, where that 2-match series was drawn.

Sri Lanka played their last 2-match Test series against visiting Bangladesh, where the Lankans won the series 1-0. The West Indies, on the other hand, drew their last 2-match Test series against visiting Pakistan.

In the last 5 Test series, Sri Lanka has won 2, lost 2, and drawn 1, where 1 win was on home soil and 1 was in Zimbabwe. Their opponents, West Indies have won 1, lost 2, and drawn 2 of their last 5 Test series, where the only winning series was on the soil of Bangladesh.

The young players of Sri Lanka have been performing well recently. Evidence of this has been seen in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. On the other hand, the West Indies players are not in good form. So, in order to do something good in this series, the players have to perform at their best.

The players of the Sri Lankan team are now confident with the success of the latest Test series at home and abroad. Moreover, this time the Lankans play on home soil. They will look forward to doing something good and bringing the results in their favor.

The West Indies and Sri Lanka are placed at 7th and 8th spot in the ICC Test rankings respectively. So both teams have to play well in this series to make a good position in the points table.
