What a tough time Sri Lanka is going through! The country is bankrupt due to due to political and economic tension. As a result, the entire Sri Lankan people are in a very fragile state. The title of the Asia Cup has come as a raindrop in the heart of the desert for the Sri Lankans, who have been panting due to political and economic turmoil.

Before the start of the Asia Cup, Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka announced that he wants to win the title for the ordinary people of the country. Finally, that dream has come true. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in Dubai on September 11 to become the champion of this year’s Asia Cup. Since then, Sri Lanka has been highly praised in world cricket.

Dasun Shanaka returned home with the Asia Cup title from UAE. And cricket lovers and the general public welcomed the cricketers as soon as they stepped into their own yard. The cricketers celebrated on the streets of Sri Lanka on an open-top bus to share the joy of winning the title with the fans.

The plane carrying the Lankan cricketers arrived at the Katuanayake airport early Tuesday morning local time. Before their arrival, supporters were already present outside. As the cricketers exited the airport one by one, the supporters erupted in cheers to see the champions.

The cricketers’ journey in an open-top bus added to the excitement of the fans. The cricketers went to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board in Colombo from the airport on that bus. A crowd of people can be seen on both sides of the road. The cricketers lifted the trophy from the bus. Apart from this, Shanaka, and Vanuka Rajapaksa also autographed jerseys, bats, and flags of the fans.

Many congratulated the cricketers on social media. Many people think that in this bad time in the country, Sri Lankan cricket has brought some peace to people’s minds. After Sangakkara Jayawardene’s era, it’s like a new sunrise in Lankan cricket. Many are dreaming that Sri Lanka will play well in the upcoming World Cup.
