Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has got victorious in the 25th match of IPL 2022 by 7 wickets with 13 balls to spare against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Brabourne-CCI Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. With this, SRH has picked up the 3rd victory in five matches of the season.

After winning the toss, SRH captain Kane Williamson decided to bowl and sent KKR to bat first. KKR did not have a good start after walking down to bat. After playing 4.3 overs, they lost their top 3 batsmen by 31 runs. Aaron Finch 7, Venkatesh Iyer 6 got back to the pavilion cheaply and Sunil Narine hit a six (6 off 2 balls) only before getting undone.

From there, Shreyas Iyer tried to pull the team. But when Umran Malik bowled the KKR captain off 28 off 25 balls, the team lost 4 wickets for 70 runs.

However, Nitish Rana and Andre Russell batted hard and put KKR in a good position in the middle order. The team collected 55 runs in the last 5 overs, and the devastating batting of Russell and Nitish Rana contributed a lot.

Nitish returned to the dressing room in the 18th over after playing an innings of 54 off 36 balls with six fours and two sixes. Andre Russell did the rest alone. In 4 fours and 4 sixes, devastating innings of 49 off 25 balls came out from the willow of the Caribbean all-rounder. KKR lost 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs until the end and collected 175 runs.

On behalf of SRH, T Natarajan scalped the maximum number of 3 wickets and Umran Malik took 2 wickets. Besides, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jagadeesha Suchith took one wicket each.

Coming down to chase a challenging target of 176 runs, SRH reached the victory port in 17.5 overs losing only 3 wickets. However, SRH lost two openers, Abhishek Sharma (3) and captain Kane Williamson (17) to score 39 runs. Then they returned to the match courtesy of great innings by Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram.

Tripathi-Markram combined to form a winning pair of 94 runs off 54 balls in the third wicket. Tripathi picked up a well-deserved half-century off 21 balls. He got out in the 15th over with 71 runs off 37 balls smashing 4 fours and 6 sixes.

However, Markram played well till the end. The batsman, who hit fifty off 31 balls, remained unbeaten, playing a stormy innings of 68 off 36 balls, in which he also hit 4 sixes with 6 fours. For KKR, Andre Russell took the most number of 2 wickets, and Pat Cummins took 1 wicket.

After winning this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad has risen to 7th position in the points table. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders are in 4th place in the points table with three wins in six matches.
