However, even after so long, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly opened up again with the captaincy. He said, he was forced to leave the leadership. In a video message given on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Sourav highlighted various incidents of his cricket life. He also mentioned that he was removed from the leadership in 2005 and later removed from the team.

Sourav said, ”I was getting ready for the 2007 World Cup to recover the loss of the 2003 World Cup final. After the 2003 World Cup we got a new coach. Although several names were discussed, eventually Australian Greg Chappell became the coach of the Indian team. We went very close in 2003 but did not win the World Cup. ”

Sourav said, “Not only me, but everyone in the team was sorry. At that time, I was removed from the leadership. It is better to say that I have been forced to leave the leadership. But then I wanted to play well for the team. I want to give all my best to the team.”

Although he was forced to leave the leadership, Sourav did not say who forced him. He even sees the matter as the ups and downs of cricket life. He did not open up about the distance created with the then coach Chappell.

Sourav also said, ”After the loss against Australia in the 2003 World Cup final, the goal was to beat them in the Test series against Australia that year on their own soil. That’s why I did 7 days of special practice in Australia before the start of the series. That practice made me a lot better as a player. The result of which I got in that test series against Australia. ”

Sourav’s statement has created a buzz in the cricket world. Many are dragging up old controversies and trashing Greg Chappelle on social media. 74-year-old Greg Chappell, however, has not yet opened up on the matter.
