Barbados Royals cruised to a 6-wicket victory over Saint Lucia Kings courtesy of Corbin Bosch’s devastating innings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet with 9 balls remaining in the 11th match of CPL 2022. Corbin Bosch of Barbados Royals was selected as the player of the match after playing match-winning innings of 81 runs off 50 balls.

At the start of the match, Barbados Royals captain David Miller won the toss and elected to field first. St. Lucia Kings came down to bat as a result of that. St. Lucia Kings scored 169 runs after losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

St. Lucia Kings started well in batting. They scored 50 runs in 6 overs of the power play losing only one wicket in the over. However, wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella, who was placed in the XI could not play any big innings. He got out for 18 runs off 13 balls, with 1 four and 1 six.

Captain Faf du Plessis also scored only 7 runs off 10 balls. An over after his departure, opener Johnson Charles returned to the pavilion with 29 off 25 balls. His innings were played with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Since then, the run rate of St. Lucia Kings has started to slow. After scoring 50 runs in 6 overs, the Kings team took 14 overs to cross 100 runs.

Earlier Roston Chase (12 off 10) and Mark Deyal (17 off 21) returned to the pavilion cheaply. The team’s score was 90/5 when Deyal got out. From there, hard-hitter Tim David and all-rounder David Wiese brought the team back into the match. The duo put together a storming inning of 79 runs off 43 balls for the 6th wicket. St. Lucia Kings could finally get a respectable score thanks to this pair of them.

David played a stormy inning of 40 runs off 23 balls before getting out on the last ball of the innings. His innings was decorated with 4 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, Wiese played an unbeaten inning of 28 runs off 21 balls and left the field. Hayden Walsh took the maximum number of 2 wickets for Barbados Royals. Apart from this, Jason Holder, Justin Greaves, Oshane Thomas, and Obed McCoy took 1 wicket each.

After coming down to chase a challenging target of 170 runs, the Barbados Royals suffered at the beginning. Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock returned to the dressing room for zero runs in the last ball of the 1st over. However, Corbin Bosch and opener Kyle Mayers handled the shock. These two put on a partnership of 84 runs off 48 balls for the 2nd wicket.

Mayers returned to the dugout after scoring 33 runs off 26 balls. Azam Khan scored 13 runs off 10 balls. But Corbin maintained one end of the wicket and led the team towards victory. In the end, he returned to the pavilion after playing an outstanding inning of 81 runs for the team’s 148 runs. His innings of 50 balls had 10 fours and 1 six.

In the end, captain Miller and Holder took the team to victory with 9 balls left in the innings. Miller scored unbeaten 29 off 18 balls hitting 3 sixes and Holder remained unbeaten on 7 off 8 balls. Alzarri Joseph took the highest number of 3 wickets for St. Lucia Kings. Roston Chase also picked up 1 wicket for the team bowling second.

Barbados Royals have won four consecutive matches including this match and are at the top of the points table. On the other hand, after losing this match, Saint Lucia Kings are now at the 5th position in the points table.
