Most valuable team of the recent ICC tournament announced; Babar Azam named as the leader of the pack

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the most valuable team of the tournament shortly after the end of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, where there is no Bangladeshi cricketer. India, the host of the tournament, also has no players on the list. The top three players from the champions, Australia are in the top eleven of this year’s tournament. Pakistan’s Babar Azam has been elected as the captain of the team.

The best player of the tournament, David Warner, is inevitably on this list. Adam Zampa, Australia’s leading wicket-taker, and Josh Hazlewood, who led the pace bowling unit in the tournament, are in the top XI.

Trent Boult, who took 13 wickets after bowling brilliantly throughout the tournament, got a place in the World Cup best XI from the runners-up team, New Zealand. On the other hand, only Babar Azam has got a place from the Pakistan team, he has shown great continuity throughout the tournament.

Two players from Sri Lanka, England, and South Africa have made it into the valuable players’ squad respectively. Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who played the Super Twelve and Round 1, is the highest wicket-taker of the event with 16 wickets. Naturally, he is in the XI. Another Sri Lankan cricketer on the list is Charith Asalanka, who has consistently performed with the bat.

Opener Jos Buttler and all-rounder Moeen Ali got a chance from the semi-finalist England team. Aiden Markram and pacer Anrich Nortje from South Africa are also in the line-up. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi is on the team as the 12th player.

Despite playing as an opener for Pakistan, Babar has been picked as the number three batsman in the World Cup XI. The opening two are from two arch-rivals Australia and England, the openers are Warner and Buttler. Asalanka and Markram are in the middle order. Moeen and Hasaranga are the two all-rounders in the best XI. Zampa is the spinner. Hazlewood, Boult, and Nortje are the three pacers in the best XI of the event.
