Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes (Match 4) – Highlights

Yesterday (Friday) Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes met in the 4th match of BBL 2022/23. In that match, Melbourne Stars set a huge target in the scheduled 20 overs after batting first. But in the 2nd innings, Hobart Hurricanes could not reach the target as the scheduled 20 overs ended. Also, after winning this match, Melbourne Stars are at the 3rd place in the points table and Hobart Hurricanes are at the 7th place after losing the match. Besides, Joe Clark won the man of the match title for Melbourne Stars due to his excellent batting.

After winning the toss, Hobart Hurricanes chose to bowl first and sent off the Melbourne Stars to bat. Two openers Joe Clarke and Thomas Rogers started very well after coming to bat first. But this pair was broken by Shadab Khan at the team’s 54 runs. Opener Thomas Rogers was caught out and left the field, scoring 20 runs off 13 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six. Beau Webster then entered the field to accompany Joe Clark. He also returned to the dressing room after being caught out in the 12th over. Before getting out he scored 24 runs off 22 balls, along with 2 fours and 1 six. After that Joe Clarke was on the field on one side but regular wickets were falling on the other side. Marcus Stoinis hits a golden duck. Hilton Cartwright departed the field in the 19th over. He scored 17 runs off 13 balls. Nick Larkin scored 4 runs off 4 balls.

Joe Clarke, the highest run-scorer for them, remained unbeaten in the end. He played an innings of 101 runs off 66 balls. His innings of 101 runs were arranged with 9 fours and 4 sixes. In the end, Melbourne Stars scored 183 runs by losing 5 wickets with 17 extra runs.

Riley Meredith took 2 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs for Hobart Hurricanes. Besides, Patrick Dooley and Shadab Khan took 1 wicket each.

The target was 184 runs, in reply the innings of Hobart Hurricanes stopped at 145 runs after losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. When the team went into bat, their 1st wicket fell at 25 runs. Ben McDermott left the field after being caught off the 1st ball of the 4th over. Scored 17 runs off 11 balls. D’Arcy Short left the field after scoring 15 runs off 15 balls. Shadab Khan scored 7 runs. Captain Matthew Wade scored 35 off 35 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six. Asif Ali returned to the dressing after scoring 4 runs. James Neesham scored 16 runs off 11 balls with the help of 3 fours. Tim David scored 24 runs off 17 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Nathan Ellis hit the golden duck. Joel Parris scored 5 runs off 6 balls. Besides, Patrick Dooley remained unbeaten on 5 runs and Riley Meredith was unbeaten on 7 runs. In the end, they could not reach the target with 10 runs extra.

Luke Wood and Adam Zampa took 3 wickets each for Melbourne Stars. Nathan Coulter-Nile took 2 wickets. Besides, Trent Boult took 1 wicket.
