Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Thunder (Match 7) – Highlights

Yesterday (Sunday) Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder met in the 7th match of BBL 2022/23. In that match, Sydney Thunder came down to bat first and scored a good target in the scheduled 20 overs. But in the 2nd innings, Melbourne Renegades reached the target before the allotted 20 overs were over. Also, after winning this match, Melbourne Renegades are in the 2nd place at the points table, and Sydney Thunder is in the 5th place after losing the match. Besides, Aaron Finch won the man-of-the-match title for Melbourne Renegades due to his excellent batting.

After winning the toss, Sydney Thunder chose to bat first and sent off the Melbourne Renegades to bowl. Sydney Thunder did not start very well when they came to bat first. The team’s first wicket fell after 16 runs. Their opener Mathew Gilkes left the field after getting caught out and playing 8 balls. He scored only 3 runs. Then in the 5th over, Alex Hales, who scored 16 runs off 12 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six, left the field. Just after 4 overs, their Captain Jason Sangha left for the dressing room. He scored 10 runs off 14 balls. Daniel Sams was caught out with 1 run from 2 balls. Then in the 15th over, Rilee Rossouw, who scored the most runs for them, returned to the dressing room. He played an innings of 53 runs off 38 balls. He also hit 3 fours and four sixes. Sydney Thunder lost the wicket of Alex Ross at the end. He played innings of 39 runs off 23 balls before getting out. His innings had 3 fours and 2 sixes. Oliver Davies was unbeaten on 33 off 18 balls. He also hit 4 fours and 1 six. Besides, Chris Green was unbeaten on 10 runs from 5 balls. In the end, they lost 6 wickets with 9 extra runs and scored 174 runs.

Tom Rogers took 2 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs for Melbourne Renegades. Besides, Akeal Hossain, Kane Richardson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Andre Russell took 1 wicket each.

Batting for a target of 175 runs, Melbourne Renegades reached the target by losing 6 wickets with 1 ball remaining in the allotted 20 overs. They didn’t get off to a good start when they came out to bat in the 2nd innings. First, their opener Sam Harper returned to the dressing room after hitting a golden duck. After that, Nick Maddinson and Jack Fraser managed the game a bit, but Jack Fraser was caught out after the team’s 41 runs and left the field. He scored 24 runs off 18 balls with the help of 4 fours and 1 six. Then Nick Maddinson left the field. He scored 39 runs off 28 balls. He also hit 2 fours and 3 sixes. Jonathan Wells scored 12 runs off 10 balls with 1 four. Andre Russell scored 7 runs off 7 balls. Akeal Hossain scored 13 runs off 9 balls. Besides, Aaron Finch scored the maximum runs for them. He was also unbeaten on 70 runs off 43 balls. He also hit 7 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, they left the field with a victory and 9 runs extra.

Daniel Sams took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs for Sydney Thunder. Gurinder Sandhu took 2 wickets for 51 runs in 3.5 overs. Brendan Doggett also took 1 wicket.
