Chattogram Challengers are at the top of the points table with three wins in five BPL 2022. But the team has now gotten engaged in off-field events more than on-field performances. Some speculations have been formed surrounding the team’s former captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Syed Yasir Alam.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz made it clear in the media yesterday (Sunday) afternoon that if Yasir Alam remains in charge, he will not play for the Challengers anymore, which added more context to the drama. Besides, he decided to quit taking part in this edition of BPL and leave for Dhaka.
In the end, Mehidy did not leave the hotel and returned to Dhaka, and he remained with the team. KM Rifatuzzaman, the Franchise owner, had to sit in talks with Yasir Alam to mediate with Mehidy. He later said that now there is no problem in the team.
Mehidy confronted the media on Sunday night after a discussion with the Franchise owner, and Rifatuzzaman was seen sitting next to him. At the outset, Rifatuzzaman made it clear that everything happened due to a lack of communication and misunderstandings.
Mehidy later said that if he had been informed about the removal of the captaincy earlier, there would have been no problem. But he was surprised to be informed just three hours before the start of the match. The misunderstanding started to begin when he wanted to know the reason behind his removal from captaincy, and he didn’t get any clarification.
He further added that even if he is given the captaincy from the management later, he will not do it again. He will now play in the team as a player and try his best to win games for the team by performing well.
Rifatuzzaman, the owner of Chittagong, said that Mehidy was removed from the captaincy, and Naeem was given the responsibility as there were differences in tactical thinking and slight differences in the plans between the captain and the management.
