Just as the daylight becomes longer, so as the line of bodies killed in the horrific fire at the BM Container Depot in Sitakunda becomes longer. Hundreds of people are fighting against death in hospital beds after being burnt by the fire emitted from the chemicals. At least five firefighters were killed when the blaze was brought under control. Crying of relatives was going on from the depot to the hospital. Former captain Mashrafe Mortaza and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed have called for help for the victims.
Former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Narail-2 MP Mashrafe has requested a helping hand to the victims in Sitakunda. In a post on Facebook, Mashrafe wrote: “I pray for the souls of those killed in the horrific blast at the BM container depot in Sitakunda, Chattogram, and expressed my sympathy to the injured.”
Mashrafe added: “I urge the voluntary organizations and the people of Chattogram to come forward and help the victims. I have heard that a lot of blood is needed. Come on everyone. With a little help from you, a bag of blood can save a life, it can make a family smile. I pray for everyone. ”
Meanwhile, Taskin urged everyone on his verified Facebook page, to extend a helping hand as much as possible, saying, ”Let us pray for the people affected by the Sitakunda fire in Chattogram, firefighters, doctors, police and all those who took part in the rescue operation. I extend a helping hand in any way I can. O Allah, protect us.”
