Mashrafe named as the icon of Sylhet in BPL, Sylhet Strikers logo unveiled

The next season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will start from January 6, 2023. Still about two and a half months left. However, the franchises have already started preparing the team. As part of that, Sylhet Strikers were the first to show surprise. Apart from unveiling the logo, the team also announced the name of the team icon on Wednesday.

Sylhet has taken the former captain of Bangladesh team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as an icon cricketer. He has also been given the captaincy of the team. After signing a contract with a new team in the BPL, Mashrafe also said that he will give his hundred percent on the field to meet the expectations of the team.

Joining the logo unveiling ceremony, Mashrafe said, ”Hopefully, the team’s journey will begin. And everything will go well until the end of the tournament. Your expectations will be fulfilled. It is an honor for me as you picked me an icon in the team. I will try to give my best to fulfill the desire for which you have selected me.”

Since there is no series in Pakistan during the next BPL, Pakistani players will be seen in BPL Along with Mashrafe, Sylhet have included Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir, Sri Lanka’s Dhananjay de Silva, Thisara Perera, and Kamindu Mendis in the BPL squad.

Note that Mashrafe has not officially retired from the national team but is still playing in the domestic league. He is also the successful captain in the history of BPL. It is now to be seen whether Sylhet will become the champion for the first time with his hands.
