Rajasthan Royals (RR) has got a win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 24 runs in the second match of the doubleheader in IPL 2022 on Sunday at Brabourne-CCI Stadium in Mumbai. With that, RR has gone one step further toward the playoffs.

After winning the toss, RR captain Sanju Samson decided to bat and sent LSG to bowl first. After coming down to bat, Jos Buttler was run out for 2 off 6 balls and RR was in some danger. But after that RR did not stop.

After losing the first wicket for 11 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson put on a 64-run stand for the second wicket partnership. Where they picked up 51 runs in 6 overs of the power play. Samson was dismissed for 32 off 24 balls.

In 6 fours and 1 six, Jaiswal scored the highest 41 runs from 29 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored 39 runs from 18 balls. Riyan Parag scored 19 off 15 balls. James Neesham made 14 off 12 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin remained unbeaten on 10 off 7 balls and Trent Boult got 17 off 9 balls.

Mainly by dint of the lower order batsmen, RR lost 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and got a fighting capital of 178 runs. Ravi Bishnoi took the highest number of 2 wickets for LSG. Besides, Jason Holder, Avesh Khan, and Ayush Badoni took 1 wicket each.

LSG was in danger from the start as they came down to chase the challenging target of 179 runs to win. Quinton de Kock was out for 7 runs. Captain KL Rahul was dismissed for 10 off 19 balls. Ayush Badoni could not make any run.

In the end, LSG’s innings came to a halt with 154 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs under the controlled bowling of RR bowlers. RR’s bowling weapon Trent Boult scalped the maximum number of 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Boult was also named Player of the Match for his 17 off 9 balls with the bat.

Apart from Boult, Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets for RR. He conceded 32 runs in 4 overs. Obed McCoy also snapped up 2 wickets for 35 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal took 1 wicket each.

With 8 wins and 5 losses in 13 matches, Rajasthan Royals have now got up to the second position in the points table securing 16 points. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants are now in the 3rd position with 16 points from 13 matches, they’ve got 8 triumphs and 5 losses so far.
