LSG vs MI Match Highlights

Lucknow comfortably defeated five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians by 36 runs in the 37th match on Sunday, courtesy to KL Rahul’s century and LSG’s outstanding bowling effort.

Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma asked Lucknow to bat first after winning the toss. With the ball, the Mumbai bowlers got off to a good start. Quinton de Kock, the wicketkeeper-opening batsman for Lucknow, was dismissed in the first over of Jasprit Bumrah’s spell.

Manish Pandey and KL Rahul shared a partnership of 58 runs off 47 balls for the second wicket. Manish was dismissed by Mumbai’s part-time bowler Kieron Pollard. He scored 22 runs for his side in this match.

Lucknow promoted their Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to bat at 4. But this experiment was not very successful. Stoinis was out after playing just 3 balls. He could not score any run in this match.

In front of his previous side Mumbai, Krunal Pandya failed with the bat. Pollard got his wicket. Krunal only scored 1 run. In this match, Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni were unable to perform anything special with the bat.

Ayush Badoni and KL Rahul’s 25-ball 47-run partnership increased LSG’s run rate. KL Rahul continued to score heavily from one side with his shots.

KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow, reached his century with a maximum off the first ball of the innings  last over. With a score of 103 off 62 balls, Rahul reamined not out. In his innings, he hit 12 fours and four sixes. Apart from KL Rahul, no other LSG batter has had any success with the bat in this match.

Mumbai did not get off to a good start while chasing 169 with the bat. Mumbai’s openers, captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, put on a 49-run stand off 43 balls. Ishan Kisan only contributed 8 runs to this partnership. Ishan Kisan returned to the pavilion after facing 20 balls and cored just 8 runs.

Surya Kumar Yadav and Dewald Bravis both struggled with the bat in this match. Due to the injury to Avesh Khan, fast bowler Mohsin Khan made his debut for Lucknow. Dewald Bravis was returned to the pavilion by him. Surya Kumar Yadav was dismissed by part-time offspinner Ayush Badoni.

Mumbai’s captain, Rohit Sharma, scored the most runs in their innings. He was dismissed for 39 runs in 31 balls. Tilak Verma is the only batsman in the middle order to score runs. Tilak Verma and Pollard made a partnership for 57 runs off 39 balls.

With the ball, Pollard was Mumbai’s most successful bowler. However, he failed with the bat yet again. Pollard has struggled with the bat so far in this year’s IPL. He only managed to score 19 runs in 20 balls in this match.

Tilak Verma, the in-form middle-order batsman, was dismissed for 38 runs off 27 balls. Tilak is the only batsman in Mumbai Indians’ middle order who consistently scores runs. He also contributed with the bat in this match. Despite this, Mumbai failed to even come close to achieving the 169-run target.

Only 132 runs were scored in Mumbai’s innings. For Lucknow, Krunal Pandya took the most wickets. He took three wickets for just 19 runs. In this match, Sri Lankan fast bowler Dusmantha Chameera bowled an excellent spell. Despite the fact that he did not take a wicket, he only gave up 14 runs in his four overs.

With 10 points from eight matches, Lucknow has moved up to fourth place in the points table. The Mumbai Indians lost this match, becoming the first team in the IPL to lose eight consecutive games. In this IPL, MI is still winless. In eight games, Mumbai has earned 0 points. Mumbai is currently ranked tenth in the points table.
