London Spirit vs Welsh Fire (Match 24) – Highlights
Daniel Lawrence’s superb all-around performance led London Spirit to a stunning 17-run win over Welsh Fire in the 24th match of The Hundred 2022 at Lord’s in London on Wednesday. Daniel Lawrence was selected as the player of the match for his stormy innings of 43 runs from 26 balls, first with the bat and then taking 4 wickets with the ball.
Welsh Fire captain Josh Cobb won the toss and elected to field first, sending London Spirit to bat. London Spirit collected a challenging score of 156 runs after losing 6 wickets from the stipulated 100 balls.
London Spirit’s openers Adam Rossington, and Daniel Bell-Drummond got off to a good start after coming down to bat. They picked up 45 runs after losing 1 wicket in 25 balls of power play. Where the team lost the first wicket for 41 runs. Daniel Bell-Drummond was bowled by Jake Ball and scored 8 runs off 12 balls.
After a while, the wicketkeeper batter Rossington got out after scoring 32 runs off 20 balls. But the big blow to the London Spirit camp came up a little later. In the end, Leus du Plooy scored 30 runs off 18 balls but could not take the team to the port of victory thanks to Chris Wood’s aggressive bowling. This pacer took the last four wickets in a row. As a result, the innings of Welsh Fire stopped at 139 runs after losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 100 balls.
By winning this match, London Spirit has climbed to the top of the points table. On the other hand, Welsh Fire is currently at the bottom of the points table after losing six matches in a row.
